Relax in the still, peaceful splendor of a private Virginia retreat surrounded by acres of rural beauty and tranquility.
The North River Inn spreads graciously across one-hundred waterfront acres in Virginia?s historic Tidewater region off the Chesapeake Bay. A National Register Landmark and Virginia Historic Landmark, the Inn is located on the colonial 17th century estate, Toddsbury, on the North River. Extensive waterfront and quiet tree-lined lanes separated by wide fields lead guests to the three historic structures which comprise the Inn: Toddsbury Cottage, Toddsbury Guest House, and Creek House. All rooms are furnished with 18th and 19th century American and English family antiques, have air-conditioning, telephones, and private baths. All have exquisite views of the wide salt river, or the tidal creek bordered by hollies and cedars, or arable fields lined with ancient trees. The grounds include long lanes for walking and biking, an 18th century walled garden an acre square, and a rare 18th century ice house. Canoes and kayaks are available for water exploration, while guests who chose to arrive under sail or power are welcome at our deep-water dock.
