New Coffee House To Open!

Most CW natives will remember that for years, a beautiful gingerbread style, victorian house sat to the left of the Capital building on Duke of Gloucester Street.  I used to take visitors on tours there after Laura Ashley decorated the interior.  Then some ten years or so ago, the house was finally moved.  CW has been busy building a new structure on the site.  On November 20th, the newly reconstructed Charlton's Coffee House will open to the public again.  This is the most significant historical reconstruction on Duke of Gloucester Street in 50 years!  This coffee house was the site of social and political gatherings in colonial times.
The grand opening ceremony will begin at 4 pm and a CW admission ticket is required.  You won't want to miss this exciting event.  For more information visit www.history.org/

Elizabeth Tisdale Armstrong

I was born and raised in Williamsburg, Virginia, and from a very young age, my love of the beautiful, historic town took root. My father worked for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation for 21 years as an audio-visual engineer. As members of the historic Bruton Parish Episcopal Church, our family attended services regularly and sang in the choir. I was married in that church in 1987. During my college years, I worked every summer as an interpretive hostess in many historic buildings. Today I am a teacher and published author. Although I currently reside in the Columbus, Ohio area, my heart still belongs to the Colonial Capital.
