A beautiful blanket of snow covering Williamsburg is something you don't see too often these days. When I was a little girl we had big snows all the time, but the last decade or so has been different... much warmer.
So bundle up and get out there!  Take a walk down the Duke of Gloucester Street and just take in the sights.  Take lots of pictures and enjoy this beautiful display of nature while it lasts!

The Williamsburg Ballet Theatre will perform excerpts from various ballets on January 29th at Colonial Heritage. This is a beautiful location and only minutes away from the restored area. The cost is $26 per person, which includes dinner and the show. Dinner is served between 6 and 7 pm and the performance is from 7 to 7:45 pm. RSVP required by Jan. 26th. Please call 757-645-2001.
Colonial Williamsburg joins with Thomas Jefferson's Monticello to present the 12th Annual "Working Wood in the Eighteenth century" Conference, held here in Williamsburg, Jan. 13 - 16 and 17 - 20. The focus is on Thomas Jefferson's furniture. Guest speakers include Garland Wood, Master carpenter for Colonial Williamsburg, Mack Headly, Master Cabinet Maker for Colonial Williamsburg, and Roy Underhill, author, teacher, and host of PBS series, "Woodrights Shop, Williamsburg," just to name a few. For more information or to reserve a spot at a lecture, call 1-800-602-0948.
The Annual Williamsburg Area Restaurant Association Restaurant Week is coming up January 24 through January 31. Twenty of the area's finest favorite restaurants are participating, from Berret's Seafood Restaurant in Merchant's Square, (one of my personal favorites!), to Greenleafe at New Town, Williamsburg Inn-Terrace Room, and The Williamsburg Lodge.  There is a wide variety of restaurants to please everyone. Select from special 2 course lunch menus and 3 course dinner menus between $10 and $30.  This only lasts for one week, so make plans and enjoy some of Williamsburg's delicious cuisine for less. 'Cause who doesn't love to have a great time and save money, too?!

Elizabeth Tisdale Armstrong

I was born and raised in Williamsburg, Virginia, and from a very young age, my love of the beautiful, historic town took root. My father worked for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation for 21 years as an audio-visual engineer. As members of the historic Bruton Parish Episcopal Church, our family attended services regularly and sang in the choir. I was married in that church in 1987. During my college years, I worked every summer as an interpretive hostess in many historic buildings. Today I am a teacher and published author. Although I currently reside in the Columbus, Ohio area, my heart still belongs to the Colonial Capital.
