?Through the Eyes of the Eagle: Illustrating Healthy Living for Children,? Feb. 23-April 28, features 65 original watercolors of Native American scenes and colorful characters illustrating health and diabetes prevention messages for children. Wise animal characters engage young children in celebrating the joys of physical activity and healthy eating as they learn about diabetes prevention from their elders. Although the four Eagle books target American Indian and Alaska Native children ages 4 to 9, the stories are universal and have wide appeal. They were written by Georgia Perez of Nambe Pueblo and illustrated by Patrick Rolo, Bad River Band of Ojibwe, and Lisa Fifield, Oneida Tribe of Wisconsin, Black Bear Clan. Health screenings are being planned and there will be opportunities for kids to get active in the exhibit. Free, museum admission is not required. Museum hours 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays, NOON-5 p.m. Sundays. 524 J. Clyde Morris Blvd., Newport News.
