Guide To Williamsburg

August 2009 Archives

I like this shop; fun is what comes to mind. You can bring your dog in the shop, dog treats are outstanding and the clothes selection (for your dog) are great! I also got a ocean painting, under a pier, which looks just like Va Beach, with a pelican flying over the water. It is hanging in my bedroom over the fireplace and I love it! I am also wearing a mother of pearl shell necklace from there. This is a great place to give your e-mail address too. Lots of invites for different kinds of parties and the owner really takes an interest in her customers.
This restaurant is over by Great Wolf Lodge. It is great to have a different place to eat if you are staying the the Lodge. I didn't really know what to expect. We walked in and the hostess was not friendly; we had to ask to be seated. It is a tropical atmosphere with bamboo, tiki masks, salt water aquarium, wood floors, lizards and a sign that reads "Free Beer Tomorrow". We got seated and our waiter was really cool. I got the well-known drink there and that is the Hurricane. It doesn't come in sizes and it is enough for 3 people! It is a mixture of rum and a lot of fruit juices. It was a little sweet for me but it was good for a change. We ordered the "Hot" Wings for appetizer and a side dipping sauce of the "Insanely hot". Ok, unless you like things on fire, do not order the "Insanely hot"; waiter had to bring me some milk because I was burning! I got the English Fish and Chips; that was also good. My husband got the hamburger with peanut butter and I don't think he was impressed but than again how many people would actually order that? The prices are good so overall I think it was great to try something new and they have a lot of unique items on the menu.
This is the place that you have to go with a guide. You start out with Pocahontas and then she will pass you on to the next and so forth. After that, definitely see the movie and then take a walk through the museum. You have to allow yourself at least 2 hours to do everything. On Saturday, September 12th they have Children's Day. They have this 2 times per year and it is a great event with music, games, magic and imagination! Adult tickets are $14 dollars and children are $6.50 but if you live in James City County than you can get in free anytime. To me, this is a must see if you are visiting or you live here and never ventured over there!
I stopped here to get 2 pictures framed and see if they could cut a piece of glass for a dining room hutch that I purchased off Craigslist. The service was great, they cut the glass I needed right there so I got to take it with me. The gentleman picked out the frames for both pictures and I didn't know how they would turn out. I picked them up a week later and placed them next to the pictures I had framed at Williamsburg Pottery Factory, well, the quality far exceeds what I had done and the price was better. I also purchased a ceramic mug that looks great in my new hutch!
This place is not in Virginia but in Vermont so you will have to visit them online. For those of you looking for lead free glaze; this is the place. I did a cabinet clean out about 7 years ago and the baking items and mugs I have gotten look like I got them yesterday. They can go from the oven, freezer, microwave, dishwasher and the fridge. These are my favorite dishes and they are great for entertaining. I want to take a road trip and visit them someday. You will not be disappointed in their products! My favorite glazes are the blue agate and tavernware.
They have almost all their bra's on sale this week until Sunday for $19.99. That includes Ipex and Full Coverage which are regular $45.00 each. They also have the clearance bins which were full. Great gift for yourself, girlfriend or wife!
