WILLIAMSBURG – September 16, 2010 – A local Williamsburg institution of higher education has made quite the impact. The London-based publication Times Higer Education has ranked the College of William and Mary as one of the best colleges in the world – 75th among 200. Thisranking only confirms what members of the Tribe have said forever; now there is more than enough proof!
The rankings focused on the central aspects of the mission of any given university: research, teaching and knowledge transfer and werejadged in five categories: teaching, citation impact, research, international mix and industry income.
Harvard University is number one on the list, and the University of Virginia also ranks at 72. When the rankings were broken down to region, William and Mary was ranked 49th among universities in North America.
